The New Bedford Police Union and its members are dedicated to serving and partnering with the citizens of New Bedford. Incidents such as the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols undermine that dedication and have a chilling effect on relationships between the public and the police. Our membership condemns the brutality which occurred and remains committed to the community which we serve. The New Bedford Police Union will not allow the actions of the officers involved in the senseless beating and subsequent homicide of Mr. Nichols to define our members and their oath to serve and protect our community.
